(Austin, Texas) -- Today, the Texas House of Representatives elected Representative Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) to serve as the Speaker of the House during the 86th Legislative Session. As required by the Texas Constitution, members of the Texas House elected their new presiding officer from their membership after the 86th Legislature convened earlier in the day.
Today, the Texas House Republican Caucus voted to elect the Executive Committee of the House Republican Caucus for the 86th Legislative Session. Representative Dustin Burrows will serve as Chair, Representative Stephanie Klick as Vice-Chair, Representative Craig Goldman as Secretary and Representative Dan Huberty as Treasurer.
Texas House Republican Caucus Announces Representative Dennis Bonnen as Their Endorsed Speaker Candidate
Today, the members of the Texas House Republican Caucus met for the Caucus’ Selection of its Endorsed Speaker Candidate for the upcoming 86th Legislative Session. The Texas House Republican Caucus has selected Representative Dennis Bonnen as its Endorsed Speaker Candidate.
In announcing their endorsement, Chairman Dustin Burrows said, “The Texas House Republican Caucus has taken one of the first steps in organizing the House Chamber for the upcoming session. We are honored to have unanimously selected Representative Dennis Bonnen to lead the House to many conservative victories as our Speaker during the 86th Session.”
The Texas House Republican Caucus recognizes that Texas has a duty to protect the integrity of our elections, and we are pleased to see the 5th Circuit uphold our laws to do just that.
