Republicans Take Action to Stop Federal Government Encroachment
Republicans took decisive action today on a number of legislative items designed to curb the overreach of the federal government. The Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 and HCR 94. The resolutions address power grabs over the past several decades by the federal government at the expense of state prerogatives and individual rights.

Texans have said time and time again that they are concerned about the integrity of our election process and Democratic legislators have admitted to the problems associated with mail-in ballot fraud. They claim they agree with us that we need to put a stop to vote harvesting, yet they use parliamentary maneuvers to avoid debate and voting on such measures. It makes no sense for Democrats to fight Rep. Pena's bills so hard unless they benefit from the continued abuse of our electoral process.

That is why I’m very disappointed by the actions on the part of some of my Democratic colleagues. I personally reached out to them on numerous occasions today to work toward a consensus but unfortunately the Democrats refused all efforts toward a resolution.
