About the Texas House Republican Caucus
The Texas House Republican Caucus is comprised of all 76 Republican members serving in the 81st Texas House of Representatives. Elected officers of the Republican Caucus include:
Rep. Larry Taylor – Chairman
Representative Larry Taylor was elected by his colleagues to serve as Chairman of the House Republican Caucus for the 2009-2010 term. He is a member of the House Insurance Committee and House Ways & Means Committee. Rep. Taylor represents District 24 in Galveston County and is serving his fourth term in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the 81st Legislature. Rep. Taylor is a committed fiscal conservataive and was recognized with the Conservative Leader Award given to the top 16 conservative leaders by the Heritage Alliance.
Rep. Geanie Morrison – Vice Chairman
Representative Geanie Morrison was elected by her colleagues to serve as the Vice Chairman of the House Republican Caucus for the 2009-2010 term. She is the Vice Chair of the House County Affairs Committee, and is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and House Local & Consent Calendars Committee. Rep. Morrison represents District 30 in Victoria, DeWitt, Jackson, Lavaca and Refugio counties, and is serving her sixth term in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the 81st Legislature. Rep. Morrison is committed to improving education, as well as making it accessible to all Texans, and was named the Legislator of the Year by the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators.
Rep. Tan Parker – Secretary
Representative Tan Parker was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Secretary of the House Republican Caucus for the 2009-2010 term. He is the Vice Chair of the House Technology, Economic Development & Workforce Committee and a member of the Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee. Rep. Parker represents District 63 in Flower Mound and Denton County and is serving his second term in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the 81st Legislature. Rep. Parker is committed to making Texas a great place for people to do business and in acknowledgment of that was appointed to the Texas Industrial Development Corporation by Governor Rick Perry.
Rep. Linda Harper-Brown – Treasurer
Representative Linda Harper-Brown was elected to serve as the Treasurer of the House Republican Caucus for the 2009-2010 term. She is a member of the House Elections Committee and the House Transportation Committee. Rep. Harper-Brown represents District 105 in Irving and is serving her fourth term in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the 81st Legislature. Rep. Harper-Brown is a long-time supporter of improving education for Texas’ children and has served both on the Duncanville School Board and the North Texas Association of School Boards.
Rep. Kelly Hancock – Policy Chairman
Representative Kelly Hancock was elected by his colleagues to serve as the Policy Chairman of the House Republican Caucus for the 2009-2010 term. He is a member of the House Environmental Regulation Committee and the House Insurance Committee. Rep. Hancock represents District 91 in Fort Worth and Tarrant County and is serving his second term in the Texas House of Representatives as a member of the 81st Legislature. Rep. Hancock serves as a board member for the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce.
