AUSTIN, TEXAS – The Texas House Republican Caucus Executive Committee on Tuesday announced the hiring of a Communications Director to lead a new, exciting effort to help members connect with constituents through digital outreach.
Jordan Overturf will officially begin his role on January 21, 2021. He comes to the Caucus with an extensive resume in policy, politics, and media. As communications director for the caucus, he will oversee a rebranding of the Caucus with a new website and expanded content via social media platforms to engage and educate Texans throughout the state.
“We know many of our constituents already had a tough time getting to Austin before the pandemic. Social media and other digital platforms give our members more opportunities to share their progress during session and connect directly with the people they serve. Now more than ever, efforts to reach citizens online are vital to our members delivering legislative services to their districts,” Chairman Murphy said.
“The Caucus is thrilled to bring a veteran communications leader to our team so that he can provide our members with greater access to creative resources that will ensure they are speaking to their constituents through these platforms.”
Mr. Overturf began his career in politics in 2015 and, since then, he has assisted several current caucus members win key victories in primary and general elections. He also served as a legislative director and chief of staff for members in the Texas House in 2017 and 2019. Prior to entering the political arena, Overturf enjoyed a 10-year career as an award-winning print and digital media journalist.
“I’m looking forward to using the breadth of my experience to strengthen the House Republican Caucus membership and help them build on the key relationship they share with their constituents,” Overturf said.
The Texas House Republican Caucus is comprised of all Republican members serving in the Texas House of Representatives. The Caucus provides research, education, policy development and other support to its members and their staff.
